Veterans Day – Lest We Forget
by Steve Wachs, CFP® November 2022
Deb and I recently were able to visit the Normandy area in France, one of my “Bucket List” destinations. In addition to seeing both Omaha and Gold beach, sites of the D-Day Landings during World War II, we spent time at the Normandy American Cemetery. The cemetery contains the graves of 9,866 soldiers, most of whom lost their lives during the D-Day landing and subsequent operations. This place impacted me and on this Veterans Day, we wanted to share the video I took during our visit. As you watch, consider the following excerpt from the poem, “Recessional,” by Rudyard Kipling.
‘God of our fathers, known of old,
Lord of our far-flung battle line,
Beneath whose awful hand we hold
Dominion over palm and pine—
Lord God of Hosts, be with us yet,
Lest we forget—lest we forget!’
Our team at Legacy would like to thank all of you and your family members, past and present, who have served in the military.
